Australians Are Very Much Into Social Networks
By Karina O Guerra

A study conducted by Forrester Research revealed that more than 90% of the Marketing Experts think that in the next three years marketing effectiveness will increase through the implementation of Interactive Media Strategies such as Online Engaging Tactics in Social Networks.

The Entrepreneur Magazine said that the time invested in social networking is well spent in this age where maintaining a social media presence can be a necessary piece of a successful marketing strategy (July, 2009).

For those who have been thinking that the Australian Market is not ready for the implementation of Social Media Strategies it is time for them to think about it again when you read the information that I present below:

Universal McCann (an advertising agency and digital agency that’s been involved with some of Australia’s most famous advertising campaigns) says that 72.9% of Australian Adults are active Internet users.

Forrester Research (an independent technology and market research company) says that most online Australian adults regularly use social media in some way and that almost half of Australian online adults are members of social networks.

ComScore (a marketing research company that provides marketing data and services to many of the Internet’s largest businesses) says that 3 out of 4 Australians visited a Social Networking Site in June 2009.

Facebook reports than more than 7 million Australians are their members.

Do you still believe Australians are not into Social Networks yet?

I leave you this last quote included at the Social Media Study conducted by Universal McCann:

The social oriented internet is a massive opportunity for brands, advertisers and marketers if embraced properly”

It is time to embrace it and to embrace it properly!

How to embrace it properly is the question now?

My thoughts are that organizations in Australia should develop a Social Media Strategy integrating it with their overall marketing efforts. The numbers revealed before indicate that this won’t be an optional thing. Aussie companies would have to have a strong Social Networking presence if they want to be where their target markets are.

I believe next year we will observe that many of those big players that have been reluctant to tweat and to be part of this tremendous Facebook wave will be out there alive with their Facebook and Twitter Strategies in place.

Karina Guerra, Australia’s Social Media expert invites you to visit Social Media in Australia to learn all the tips, tricks and secrets about what the big brands are using in the Australian Market with their online marketing strategies.

Social Media Tips - Developing a Huge Business Through Interactive Networking
By David Hale

I use Twitter, my WordPress blog and every other social networking and bookmarking tool under the sun to generate exposure for my social media marketing businesses.

In October 2008, one of my clients closed their brick and mortar store due to escalating rents, set up a showroom in their home, and revamped their website to add e-commerce. Without a store front, it was important to get exposure through in-person networking but they realized they could not ignore the new world of social networking online. So, they immersed themselves to learn all the new ways to do business. They were using email marketing and developed a large email list but there are new opportunities for marketing through Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter and the many social business networks that are cropping up locally and nationally. One cannot be in business today without learning about all these tools. Their efforts since starting have netted them a business windfall well into the six figure zone based mostly on their social media networking strategic planning. It would not be the same without social media.

These days, Twitter is my addiction of choice, and Facebook is a close 2nd. There is even social networks for anything you can think of. I have used MySpace, Twitter and Facebook to meet up with prospective clients. By interacting with many people, and paying attention to what they say and do, I get promoted heavily by them to others, and I get a larger following. Because people enjoy my interactions, I already have a list of people that are ready to buy my newest book - before it is even written.

If you are out to attract prospective customers and develop your online presence and exposure, you owe it to yourself and the financial future of your business to learn everything you can about social media.

Social Networking With Facebook - The Implications

Social Networking With Facebook - The Implications
By CD Mohatta

Everyone is going ga-ga over Facebook and Twitter these days. MySpace has become one of those fads which usually last two-three years. It is trying to reinvent itself. Have you wondered what is going on with the older social networking websites like Friendster, Bebo, Hi5, Orkut, etc? You may have created an account on one of these sites many months back. The truth is, except Facebook and Twitter, the traffic on most of the other social networking sites is going downhill. Facebook is now number two in Alexa internet rankings. MySpace has slipped from the top five. The others have slid a lot as well.

Yahoo has announced that it will enable Facebook connect through out Yahoo’s main portal in the coming months. Now, Yahoo is/was one of the biggest socializing portals with email, chat, messenger and everything. Instead of developing a social network on Yahoo, they are giving away space to Facebook. MySpace has also announced that it will integrate Facebook connect so that MySpace users can share MySpace content like music videos on Facebook easily. Consider the fact that MySpace and Facebook were bitter rivals a few months back. Google is planning to include Facebook pages and status updates in its search results, which means more organic traffic to Facebook. Facebook will continue to increase its dominance due to such steps being taken by the top websites. It may not be wrong and instead help users to maintain a common Facebook id which they can use on any website they want. In a way, it will be good because other sites will no longer have to create separate login registration. People will no longer have to register at every website. But imagine, that something goes wrong in Facebook. The Internet which we know will come to a standstill considering that all social networking will take place through Facebook. So everything has its pros and cons. What will happen in future? No one knows.

Top 7 Social Networking Sites That Can Boost Your Business

Top 7 Social Networking Sites That Can Boost Your Business
By Kay Vardeleon

If you’re seriously planning on marketing your goods and services online, you should be aware of what social networking sites are and why it’s imperative that you sign up for at least one.

Social networking sites are web services that allow you to interact with other people online, as well as exchange personal information with established links. The benefit of social networking sites goes two ways: one, you can introduce yourself to people you don’t know, as well as reconnect with old associates, and two, other people- strangers and friends alike- can find you.

Most social networks are free. All you need is a valid email address to register. The benefits of these sites, however, are great. Members in social networking sites can link up based on variables like location, affiliation, needs and interests. This is a big help if you’re looking for potential clients, partners and even staff members.

Here are the Top 7 Social Networking Sites that you can use for your web business:

1. MySpace

MySpace is one of the first social networking sites to attempt being a one-stop shop for users. With MySpace you can create your own profile, write a blog, embed music and videos, and publish status updates. MySpace is recommended particularly for budding musicians aiming to sell their records independently, or get enough of a fanbase to attract the attention of an established record company.

2. LinkedIn

Most social networking sites have an informal feel to them, and may not be conducive to communicating that you mean serious business. Enter LinkedIn. LinkedIn can help you target top companies for clients; indeed, even senior executives from Fortune 500 companies have a LinkedIn profile. At the very least, your LinkedIn profile is your curriculum vitae waiting to be picked up by head hunter. The more targeted and impressive your LinkedIn profile is, the better are your chances of making a professional connection you can use.

3. Twitter

Do you find traditional blogs too time-consuming? Enter the era of microblogging. Twitter is a service that allows you to post 45-character updates to “followers.” Spread news of your fresh promos and offerings at no cost, or attract a targeted market with your witty and informative tweets. You may also use twitter to find lists of links for different things, e.g. job openings, business opportunities and professional organizations.

4. YouTube

Wait a minute…YouTube is not a social networking site!

The way YouTube is being used right now, it actually is. YouTube allows you to post video content to your profile, and even helps you create your own channel. There are two ways businesses typically use YouTube to promote their fare. One, they publish original content that can brand them and their business. Two, they use “hot” topic searches to get their business maximum exposure. Either way, it’s a win-win strategy.

5. YahooGroups!/ Google Groups

Long before the age of Web 2.0, social networks are created through mailing lists or e-groups. Don’t underestimate the power of these “primitive” networks- they aren’t obsolete yet! Find targeted markets through these discussion groups or get sound advice from others within your field.

6. Digg

Who would’ve thought that a site where you can say what you like and what you don’t like will sell? Well, Digg is living proof that people like expressing their opinion on a great variety of things from news reports to feature articles to incredibly lame websites. Grab yourself a slice of the Diggnation!

7. Blogger/ WordPress

Gone are the days when only those with techie skills can publish original content. Today, even people like me who know not one html code can create an online presence and tell the world what’s going on in my head. Use these free blog hosting sites to create a homepage for your business, or show your expertise in a field or subject matter. You may even make it your free web portfolio. The great news: most blogging sites are now web 2.0 capable so you get to interact with your readers more!

Networks are integral in any business, whether you own a company of 50 employees or you’re selling just your own time and skills. At the very least, social networks can spread your name around, making you and your business recognizable within your target niche market.

So what are you waiting for? Start signing in now!
