One of the biggest challenges that customer service reps face is getting information from the corporation in a timely way and getting it out the customers who may be upset about something. These days there are social networking solutions for most of the customer service problems that plague businesses. Do you think that social networking sites are only good for making friends? Think again. Social networking solutions offer a great way to connect with your customers and keep them informed.

For example let’s say that your customers are having trouble understanding one aspect of how your product works and your customer service reps are swamped trying to answer questions and explain how to properly use the product. Instead of wasting everyone’s time on phone calls customers can join your corporate social networking site and download a video of how to properly use the product. If the customer is still not satisfied the customer can connect with a customer service rep immediately using live chat or instant messaging instead of having to wait on hold to talk to a customer service rep on the phone.

Another way that social networking solutions can solve your customer service problems is by giving members exclusive deals and coupons. Customers always like getting a deal that no one else is getting so you can use the list of all the people that have registered for your social networking site as a mailing list to send out coupons, special offers and sale flyers. Your customers are getting added value that makes them feel like very special customers and you are getting repeat business from happy customers.

Social networking sites also will help cut down on the amount of customer service staff that you have because a social networking site makes it possible for one or two customer service reps to answer questions and help take care of many customers. A customer service rep can answer a customer’s question in one instant message while emailing another at the same time. Using social networking can increase efficiency and cut down on stress for your staff and your customers.

Social networking solutions for customer service problems aren’t going to the right answer for every business. But if you want your business to stay competitive as business and technology become more dependent on one another you need to be able to think outside the box and think about ways that you can use existing and popular technology applications to give you an edge in business.

Online Social Networking Basics For Doctors

Now a day, Social Networking is very much visible in many areas of our society. It is being used for various purposes, and not necessarily for its good functions. You might have heard in the news about some people being questioned for illegal or unethical conduct because of how they have used social networking.

Doctor, you need to know that if you engage in social networking deliberately, you can use it to your advantage.

This is also one reason why we have established our membership site to allow various degrees of interaction with our members. Historically, not only in our own experience but also with research studies that have been done, chiropractic doctors fall behind other groups when it comes to the use of social networking. This discussion aims to enlighten you a little bit and whet your appetite. Look for more information on social networking in our upcoming technology workshops.

If done properly, social networking can be very advantageous. It can put you in front of an enormous number of people in your own neighborhood and around the world. Just make sure you follow these two basic rules.

Rule 1: Your participation is limited. In other words, as one of my confidants advised me some time ago, limit yourself to no more than a few minutes per day.
Rule 2: Make sure what you are contributing is of interest and benefit.

Of course, there are a few exceptions. Social networking on hobby sites is something totally different.

On professional sites such as the Perfect Practice Web forum, if we had more doctors participate we’d start to see the benefits of sharing instantaneously.

If nothing else comes of this discussion, at the very least, take a look at our forum. Post something interesting. Post questions about things you need help on or recommendations for vendors and suppliers. There is no limit to what you can share. As long as it’s done in a professional and timely manner, everybody in the group will benefit.

So, lets cover some of the more common social networking sites, Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter. I’d like to discuss each of them a little bit at a time. They’re all very important, and each has its place.

With regard to online social networks, Facebook is the most widely used in North America. Nexopia is used predominantly in Canada. Other social networking sites include MySpace, Tagged, Highfive, Bebo, Skyrock, Orkut, etc. Other sites that are also widely used around the world are Friendster and Cyworld.

There are so many sites that you can go to. I urge doctors to participate in those forums that will provide visibility and the opportunity to have a professional but friendly image. Facebook would be number one on my list, not only in my personal experience but in the experience of the other people in the field we talk with every day.

Another advantage of Facebook is that you can link videos and blogs to it. You can do this with other sites as well, but Facebook is so hardwired in through Google that the opportunities are limited only by your imagination and your financial resources.

MySpace is similar to Facebook. We have found it to be not quite as popular when we survey other professionals.

Twitter, on the other hand, is a fun site that can allow you to put yourself in front of thousands and thousands of people quickly.

The caveat with all these sites, but especially for the first three mentioned, is to understand that when you post, it is permanent. You have to make sure this information gets disseminated. It can be used against you. God forbid something unintentional gets posted on a particular site. Keep in mind that all your post are subject to the highest level of public scrutiny. One of the scariest things now, not just for healthcare professionals but other people, is that Facebook and other online posts are being used against them in legal matters.

Be professional, cautious and intelligent about what you’re doing.

The next site is LinkedIn. This site is pretty cool. It seems to be a little bit more difficult to get into. It takes a little bit more time with regard to networking, simply because it is professionals.

LinkedIn regularly send emails updates of what’s going on with other members of your network.

It also keeps us inform of what’s happening with the other online communities. For example, if you take a look at allied professions and what’s going on online, it gives us a great idea of what we should be doing.

Get yourself up and running. Get out there. I encourage everyone, members and guest doctors. Get yourself listed to each others Facebook Friends Lists!!!

This will have tremendous benefit. You automatically get more exposure on-line, just from linking with us and your profession and others on Facebook.

Be professional, friendly and proud, and take some time with it.

In the last few years, social networking has no only gained popularity but has also become a revolutionary tool in transmitting news from countries where reporters are not allowed to tell the truth. This is never more apparent than in the current state of affairs of the 2009 Iranian election. Since the their election, millions of people have taken to the streets to protest what they believe to be a rigged election and the world had watched this unfold not from mainstream journalism but from pictures and text messages submitted from citizens with Iran.

With websites like Twitter and YouTube, images and news has reached the rest of the world despite attempts by the Iranian government to silence reporters and jam communications. Before, we would have never seen instant images of unrest or receive messages from people caught in the grip of protest and revolution until the entire issue was swept aside by the government.

At first viewed as a fad and something just for teens, these social networks have become a new face of journalism as networks like CNN and MSNBC not only support this king of media but have subscription services to the major websites like Facebook and Twitter.

Considered a cyber-revolution, these networks have offered a voice for those who were previously silence, for the individual to be heard by the world by simply typing a few words or shooting a video from their cell phone or laptop. During the unrest in Iran, the State Department asked Twitter to postpone maintenance just to make sure important information could get out of Iran.

Never before has something designed for entertaining and sharing photos and videos with friends become a force for a whole new generation of change and freedom. What role these networks will play in the future of journalism or how foreign powers will try to eliminate this technology is uncertain, but never in human history has the single voice had more power of being noticed and heard than right now.

Social networking is about communities. But with the freedom of expression, profanity, and pornography rampant on the internet, many Christians are looking for social networking sites to uphold a certain level of standards.

I’ve compiled a list of the Top Christian Social Networking Sites on the web today.

1. Tangle.com

Tangle is about expression. A place where you can personalize and express what makes you, you. Tangle allows those to share content (albeit first reviewed by the customer care team) including videos, music, photos and other material. It’s video portion (formally known as GodTube) was ranked in value at $30 million from GLG Partners (quite a far shy from the $1.6B tag of YouTube)…is a cult favorite.

Find feature artists and receive free mp3’s just for joining.

2. Xians.com The myspace equivilent for Christians. This faith based Social Networking Sites mirrors the mega-phenom Myspace by allowing you to make friends, shout out, rank, post blogs, even chat on forum and group listings. Music, videos, and games round out the mix of Godly fun. It’s a members only site with free registration.

3. Mychurch.org

When looking at Christian Social Networking sites, you can’t leave out those focused on the church. Mychurch.org offers free social networking for Christian Churches. You can create a network for your church, share photos, invite members, even post last Sunday’s sermon. Essential for linking this web 2.0 crazed nation we have together.

4. FaithLight.com

FaithLight gets my nod for the prettiest design and easiest to navigate, not only does it contain my essentials to make this list (a way to connect with individuals and share media *photos, video, audio*) there is also a large focus on the Bible and prayer requests. FL has a fully trained Christian staff that is also very dedicated to keeping the act of making new friends, a safe one.

5. Loveandseek.com

I couldn’t resist. This premier online dating service is for our Christian singles. We know it’s hard to meet people online, and I’m a living proof that Loveandseek.com really works. My husband and I met on that site! Post a profile, browse for free, even interact via live video and chat.
